Wendy O. Koopa is one of the seven Koopalings that assist Bowser in his never-ending quest to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, kidnapping Princess Peach, and defeating Mario. Wendy is the only girl among the Koopalings, who were also originally portrayed as Bowser's children.
History[]
Wendy and the rest of the Koopalings first appeared in the 1990 (1988 in Japan) NES game Super Mario Bros 3, where they (under Bowser's order) steal magic wands and turn the various kings of the Mushroom World into various creatures. Wendy is fought in the Sea-based World 3 and attacks the player by shooting red rings that can harm the player. After three stomps, Wendy is defeated.
Wendy and the other Koopalings return in Super Mario World where once again they help Bowser kidnap Princess Peach. Wendy is the sixth Koopaling fought in Chocolate Island. During the battle, Wendy and two impostors hide inside pipes and the player has to determine where Wendy is hiding before she pops out. After stomping on Wendy three times, she is defeated. Her battle is similar to the boss fight against Lemmy earlier in the game but instead of one Zig Zag Lava Bubble in the room, there are two of them.
Apart from appearing as mini-bosses in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Wendy and the other Koopalings were dormant for years before returning on a regular basis in the New Super Mario Bros series starting with New Super Mario Bros Wii. In those games, the Koopalings are fought in a similar fashion like in SMB3.
Role In MKF[]
In Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Wendy appeared with her Super Mario All-Stars SMB3 sprite and was the boss of Dire Dire Docks. The boss fight against Wendy is much like the battle in SMB3 but it takes more than three hits to take her out. However, as of the v0.81 update, Wendy has been replaced by Pako the Octopus.
Trivia[]
- Along with Roy Koopa and Morton Koopa, Wendy was one of three Koopalings that were featured as bosses in MKF throughout its development. However, Wendy and Roy have since been replaced by other bosses (Pako the Octopus and Lakithunder respectively) whereas the level Morton appeared in, Airship Armada, was removed altogether.
- Wendy and Roy can be fought in both MKF and the long-cancelled Super Mario Fusion: Revival. Iggy and Larry are also fought in SMF:R with the latter being fought twice for some reason. Lemmy and Ludwig are the only Koopalings who are completely absent in both MKF and SMF:R.
