Tryclyde is a fire-breathing, three-headed snake and a boss from Super Mario Bros. 2. He is found at the end of the level Angel Land Castle from World 6: Adventurer's Domain, in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion. Tryclyde would attack players by periodically breathing a long line of fireballs at the player must attack him by throwing Mushroom Blocks at him.
Origins[]
Tryclyde's only appearance is serving as the boss of the desert-like Worlds 2 and 6 of SMB2, though in the Super Mario Advance GBA version he is only fought in World 2 as Mouser took his spot in World 6 as a new boss called Robirdo (a large, robotic version of Birdo) was introduced in World 3 (taking over Mouser's spot in the original NES and SNES Super Mario All-Stars versions). Also exclusive to the Advance version, is that Tryclyde was revealed to be an ordinary green Cobrat before Wart's magic transformed him into the three-headed monster.
Attack Patterns[]
The first phase of the Tryclyde fight is much like he is fought in the original SMB2, where he will spit out an endless supply of fireballs at the player, whose only means of attack is throwing Mushroom Blocks at him. The player can also pile up the Mushroom Blocks and as a shield as protection against the fireballs. When his health is half-way depleted, Tryclyde will get more aggressive and will occasionally spit out a fireball that explodes. He will also spit out blue fireballs that go through Mushroom Blocks and walls during this phase.
Trivia[]
- The fight against Tryclyde was ported from the long-cancelled sister project Super Mario Fusion: Revival.
