The Boneyards is the 5th level in World 3: The Megaverse. It is a fusion level, combining Skull Man's stage from Mega Man 4 with the fearsome catacombs of Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Layout[]

Taking the player across bone-like platforms and pitting them against various skull-themed enemies, parts of the level are noticeably less mechanical and more geological. These areas have a powerful, supernatural presence seeping in from World 4, causing various undead horrors to leak into the stage and adding an entirely new level of horror to the whole "bone" theme of the original stage. Zombies, ghosts, skeletons, and more undead enemies join the usual robotic forces of Dr. Wily in an attempt to stop the player.

Even the skeleton Robot Master Skull Man himself seems to have been affected by the dark energies seeping in. In addition to his normal abilities, he has developed the necromantic ability to summon undead minions to help him fight against the player! All in all, a frightening combination of both technological and supernatural forces!

Trivia[]

The original name of this level was Skull Man Wasteland.
Goombas are reskinned as Bone Goombas from New Super Mario Bros 2 in the v0.88 update of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion. Previously, they were reskinned as J-Sons, Goombas that wear hockey masks in some levels of the Pumpkin Zone from Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
Goombas, Bony Beetles, Upside-Downers, Podoboos, Fire Killers and Skull Coins were originally absent from this level.
In the v0.88 revamp of this level, Lava Geysers and SMB3 Dry Bones were removed from the level.
