Mario in super form after eating a Super Mushroom.
The Super Mushroom is a powerup that typically grants the character an extra hit. Some characters, like Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi start off small, only growing to their full size after acquiring a Super Mushroom. However, not every character uses this powerup and instead uses powerups that is equal to the Super Mushroom, such as Life Energy to refill health.
A variant of the Super Mushroom that appears rarely is modeled after the one from Super Mario Bros. 2. It must be picked up to be used, but it grants the character the effect of two Super Mushrooms, meaning one will be immediate and the other will be placed in the reserve item box unless it's already filled.
Enemies will occasionally drop Super Mushrooms when defeated if the player is currently playing as Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Roll, or Legacy Link. Super Mushrooms can also be used to restore a Grace Hit if the player is hit by an enemy or hazard while having a higher-tier powerup.
Effects[]
- Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi will grow into their full size, allowing them to break brick blocks and take one hit without dying. Wario's version is a clove of garlic, while Waluigi's version is an eggplant.
- Sonic and Tails will gain the blue shield. This will block weak projectiles and allow them to take one hit without losing rings.
- Arthur gains armor, which allows him to take one extra hit. Armor is unique in that Arthur begins with this powerup and regains it after completing a stage if it's lost.
- Link gains the Master Sword. This will deal more damage than his wooden sword and allows him to shoot beams when at full health.
- Roll will gain Mega Man's helmet, which allows her to charge her buster shots.
- Simon Belmont will have his leather whip replaced with the chain whip. This will increase its power and range.
- Samus will gain the Charge Beam, which increases the size of her shots. She will also gain the Varia Suit, though this is merely cosmetic.
- Kirby will get a health refill if he is in his lowest health as he can only gain a copy ability powerup if he has at least two health HP.
- Legacy Link will grow to full size, just like the Mario characters. His powerup looks like a glass bottle of Lon Lon Milk.
Trivia[]
- Starting with the v0.9 update of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, suit-based characters begin a level in their Super Mushroom forms instead of their weakest forms if the player beings a new game. If the suit-based character loses a life, they revert to their Super Mushroom form on the map.
- Starting with the v0.88 version of MKF, Arthur now reverts to his Super Mushroom form (his normal armor) upon being hit in a higher level powerup. Before that update, Arthur always reverted to his boxers (his weakest form) whenever he was hit with any of his higher-tier armor.
