Storm Canyon is the 19th level in the Mushroom Kingdom and it is a fusion level that combines elements from the Mario series, Rayman series, and Metroid series.
Layout[]
This level takes place in a gray canyon with some green mountains and hills in the background as a rainstorm passes through the sky. This area has some sort of fusion effect with the mix of tiles and textures between the bright-colored lands seen in the Mario series and the gray grounds of the canyon.
The first area is a short intro, as the player must deal with Piranha Plants and a yellow Koopa Troopa that chase them around, unlike the other color variants, before entering the pipe to the top of the canyon.
The second area takes place on top of the canyon as it starts to rain. The flodded areas can be used to swim by, and there is also some Super Mario Bros. 2-style grass, which results in pulling out a giant flower to reach higher grounds. while dealing with some Mario enemies, such as Goombas wearing raincoats and an umbrella, Koopa Troopas, Hammer Bros, Cheep Cheeps and Sharks swimming by. In addition to the Mario enemies, there are also enemies from the World of Electoons of the Rayman series, such as Anti-Toons, Livingstones and Hunters that shoot a bullet that activates a large mallet that emerges from the bullet being fired and tries to smash them. At the end of this area, the player has to avoid falling in the water since it is populated by many Porcupuffers before entering a pipe to enter a cave.
In the second area, the canyon is now being fused with Planet Zebes of the Metroid series, as some of the area has some alien plants around it, and it has aliens like Rippers, Skrees and Zeelas along with the Mario-based bats called Swoopers as the player gets the checkpoint before entering the cave.
In the third area, the player will swim around the flooded cave while dealing with more Mario-based underwater enemies, such as Yarikuri Obakes, before needing a Starman to get past the bed of Munchers before entering a pipe to the next area.
In the last area, the player must deal with more Skrees and Zeelas. Also, they must use yellow springs to get to the moving platform while avoiding the Koopa Paratroopas to reach the orange pipe that takes them back to the surface. Finally, the player gets the flagpole to clear the level as they go to a mysterious island next on the map.
Alternatively, there's a secret exit in the second area by first finding the key under the water where the Porcupuffers are and then finding and hitting the P-Switch to activate a timer, as they need to race across the area and jump on the brick before time runs out. Once the player makes it to the top, they put the key in the keyhole to unlock The Crossroads on the map.
Development History[]
Storm Canyon originally was simply a standard Mario-type stage with different tiles used. Around the time of v0.5, however, the Development Team decided to give it more of a Fusion style, and have the tiles and enemies alternate between the Mario universe and the source universe of the tiles each section was using.

Trivia[]
- Earlier versions of this stage featured Fangs instead of Swoopers and SMB3 Boos instead of Yarikuri Obakes.
- Goombas, Hammer Bros, Sharks, and Hunters were previously absent in this level while Monty Moles, Boomerang Bros, and Volcano Lotuses were removed after the level was revamped.
- While most revamps of older levels in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion were done by GladiaCloud, the revamped version of this level was done by EddyMRA (formerly known as JudgeSpear), who not only created the original level but created MKF as a whole.
- Goombas now wear raincoats in this level. In previous versions of MKF, they had their blue palette skin seen in SMB1 underground levels.
