Snowy Plateau is the 15th level in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Layout[]
Taking place in a snowy winter forest with blue mountain hills covered in snow on top.
The first area has the player exploring the snowy forest, jumping on Note Blocks, and siding around the frozen ground while dealing with various enemies, such as Goombas dressed as snowmen, Buster Beetles, Ptooies, Piranha Plants and Fire Chomps.
A new feature to this stage are coins and rupees frozen in ice blocks, for which they will need a fire-type power-up or sub-weapon, such as a Fire Flower, to melt the blocks and get the treasures. However, there are nasty Munchers trapped in the ice as well, so be careful of those! Luckily, they are found under the frozen coins.
The second area has the player climbing on top of the small hills and pipes while avoiding the unfrozen Munchers on the ground using the spinning platform and Note Blocks. Some of the pipes will have Goombas coming out of them while the player has to deal with more enemies, such as Koopa Paratroopas and Sledge Bros. At the end of this area, the player can pick one of the three pipes on top of the ceiling, as picking the wrong one will have some red Piranha Plants attack the player. Once the player picks the correct one, it will lead them to the last area.
The last area takes place on top of the mountain hills, as the player first must deal with some Ptooies siding around the ice before hitting a ? Block to get a Starman to get past more Munchers safely and then encountering the Goombas and Buster Beetles to get to the flagpole. From there, the player clears the level as they go to enter a pipe to Glacial Caverns next on the map.

Trivia[]
- This level was originally a World 2 level that also featured non-Mario enemies, such as the Ice Climber enemies Topis, Seals, and Polar Bears, but was revamped to look more like a Mario-based ice level. The Snowmen from Kid Icarus and Yuki-Bombas from Bubble Bobble were also originally in this level but were removed. The tilesets of the original version of this level would be used in Himalayan Peaks instead.
- This level was originally a secret level after completing the secret exit in the now-removed level Nighttime Icecapades.
- The following enemies were removed from the level in the v0.82 update: Chain Chomps, Spinies, Hoopsters and Nipper Plants.
- The background of this level is from New Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo DS.
- This level used to be named Frozen Plateau.
