Sky Scurry is the 13th level in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Layout[]
This level takes place in Sky World, which contains nothing but an endless amount of clouds underneath The Mushroom Kingdom. This concept was first introduce in Super Mario Bros 3 and was later reuse in many future Mario games.
The first area has the player simply travel from left to right on the clouds while dealing with enemies, such as the Koopa Paratroopas, Piranha Plants, Paragoombas and Fire Chomps. Various platforms throughout the level include clouds also feature waterfalls that the player can swim in, Note Blocks to bounce across, and red rotating platforms that periodically spin around, meaning that the player can't stand on them for too long as they will get flipped off the platform.
The second main area consists of the auto-scroll section, where the player jumps between the friendly Parabeetles that fly by. There are also more quickly spinning platforms and additional enemies to deal with as the player must avoid being scrolled off-screen or else they lose a life. The scrolling direction changes five times during the course of the level, starting by going up, then shifting right, down, right, up, and right to finish. At the end, the player gets to the flagpole to clear the level. Suddenly, the Sky World turn dark as it about to storm in the next level.
Alternately, there is also a pipe that takes the player to the secret key located very early in the last section, which unlocks the paths to Tiny-Huge Valley and the battle level Sky Garden Blockade on the map.
