The Shambler is the optional and only boss of the secret level Palace of Dark Delight in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion. He originated from the 1996 3D shooting game Quake, which the level he is found in is based on. The Shambler uses offensive electric beams and cannot be hurt by any weapon other than the Railgun (attempting to defeat the Shambler is not advised, see below), forcing the player to use Railguns to destroy the walls blocking the escape route. The player can only defeat the Shambler by reaching the final portal at the end of the level.
Trivia[]
- The Shambler can be killed with 19 railgun shots. However, each railgun only holds 10 shots, only two exist in the level, and there were multiple sections where railgun shots are needed to destroy blocks to avoid taking damage from the Shambler, so doing so is extremely difficult.
- In older versions of the game, defeating the Shambler gives a red key that unlocks a secret exit. In the current version of the game, however, the red key and the secret exit have been removed.
