Pipe Labyrinth is the 8th secret level of The Mushroom Kingdom and it is based on both the classic Mario Bros. game and the World 7: Pipe Land levels in Super Mario Bros 3.
Layout[]
The level is a winding labyrinth of pipework, populated by enemies from the original Mario Bros. game, along with Piranha Plants and other Mario enemies. It is also located somewhere in Pipe Land, one of the lands that Mario and Luigi travel to not only to rescue Princess Peach, but also the capture Kings of each land from Bowser and the Kooplings, who stole the magical wands from them in Super Mario Bros 3.
The first main section has the player venture out into pipes while dealing with many Piranha Plants and Munchers.
The second main area is a standard, Mario Bros.-style maze with a black background, where the player has to find the correct path towards the room's exit while avoiding Fighter Flies and Sidesteppers on the ground, and Shellcreepers (which look like Koopa Troopas, but do not leave their shells) coming out of the pipes. The players can use the POW blocks to clear out the numbers of enemies up to three times before disappearing.
The next room is a checkpoint reminiscent of the single area found in the original Mario Bros arcade game.
The third main area finds the player in a 16-bit, pipe-related maze, which is based on World 7-6 of the original pipe land in SMB3. The gimmick of this area is the ability to switch sides at the end of the screen. For example, if the player were to exit on the right screen, then suddenly he or she appears on the left side. Also, the player will have to climb their way to the top of the pipes while dealing with more enemies.
In the fourth area, the player is back outside but now the area has an aesthetic, 8-bit feel. In addition, they cannot fall into the water as it is prohibited due to deadly toxins or else they will lose a life if they do so. Several enemies continue to come out of the pipes and some of the ground is lined with spikes, meaning the player must stay alert and figure out which pipe leads to the right direction. After that, the player goes to theflagpole and clears the level.

Trivia[]
- This stage was originally a Super Mario Bros 3 underground pipe level in World 1 before being relocated to World 8 and given a classic Mario Bros. motif.
- In the v0.85 version of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, the level was relocated back to World 1 and replaced Mystic Abyss, which was relocated to World 6.
- After the level was revamped, Glass Joe, Waddle Dees and Balloon Birds were removed from the level as it now feels more of a Mario-centric level and less of a fusion-based level. Meanwhile, the Piranha Plants, Venus Fire Traps, Jumping Piranha Plants, Munchers, Ptooies, Nipper Plants, and Spines were previously absent.
- Much of the layout of the level's first section is reused from an earlier version Battle Level found in the No Man's Land section on the map, which has since be revamped as Crystal Caverns, starting in the v0.85 version of MKF.
