Persian Dungeon is the 12th level in Alternate Earth and is based on the classic SNES game, Prince of Persia.
Layout[]
Taking place in medieval Persia a long time ago, the unnamed, imprisoned Prince protagonist went through a series of dungeons to defeat the evil Grand Vizier Jaffar and save an unnamed princess.
The level is done in a "2.5D" semi-isometric style, similar to the original Prince of Persia game and the level Pibble Plateau. Many of the game's original elements can be encountered here, such as the spike traps, secret switches in the floor, and the Persian Guards.
The level starts off in the dungeon of the palace, where one must find secret switches to pass through the level. Spike traps on the floors are first encountered here, as well as Persian Guards and Scorpions. Prisoners are also held in further rooms, and freeing them gives the player items or enemies.
After that, the player must go through another section of the dungeon, where climbable tapestries exist, as well as encounter more enemies, such as Bony Beetles and Hoopsters.
The very last area requires jumping from rooftop after rooftop as the Persian Guards are still in pursuit. The player reaches the flagpole and clears the level as the next destination on the map is Himalayan Peaks, which takes place at the world's most dangerous mountain: Mount Everest.
Enemies[]
- Jaffar Grunt (Prince of Persia)
- Hidden Spike Traps (Prince of Persia)
- Flame Trap (Rise of the Triad)
- Aru Lowder (Zelda II)
- Skeleton (Castlevania)
- Bony Beetle
- Hoopster
Trivia[]
- Since the v0.75 update, this level has been given different backgrounds and tilesets as the v0.5 version had a more simplistic look. The new tileset comes from the 1994 Mega Drive port of Prince of Persia. The rooftop tiles are the same and originate from the 1993 DOS game Prince of Persia II. The old tilesets are still seen in parts of the 2nd, underground area in The Crossroads.
- In earlier versions of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, the last section of the area took place during the day but was changed to night in the v0.875 version.
