Pamplona Stampede is the 2nd secret level in Alternate Earth and takes place in the town of Pamplona, Spain.
Layout[]
The player will participate in Spain's most famous event, the Running of the Bulls. The player, along with the several enemies located here, must run for their lives as the Bulls have been unleased, chasing the player down across the streets of Pamplona and destroying anything in their path. Touching the bulls in any way will instantly kill the player, so keep running until the end is reached.
Aside from an array of jumping enemies to evade, such as Nipper Plants and Chargin' Chucks, the player must maneuver around the piles of crates, which can be packed very tall, to keep ahead of the bulls. The crates are not a safe haven, however, since the bulls can smash through them.
Enemies[]
- Bulls (Sunset Riders)
- Rebel Soldier (Metal Slug)
- Goomba (Mario; matador skin)
- Spiny (SMB1 skin)
- Chargin' Chuck (SMW)
- Nipper Plant (SMB3)
Trivia[]
- Originally, this level's name was "Running of the Bulls". Also, there was only one section in the level before the revamped to include two areas where the player had to outrun the bulls plus a checkpoint between the two areas. The second area consists of the area from the original version of this level.
- This level originally had red Ninjis, which behaved like the Super Mario World ones that could be stomped to be defeated instead of carriable like the Super Mario Bros 2 ones, but were removed.
- The Goombas are now appropriately dresses as matadors. Originally, they were reskinned as forest rangers.
- The music heard is the chase theme from the 1994 game Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse. Previously, this level used the music "Bob's LED" from the 2006 CGI-animated film Happy Feet, making it one of the very few levels that used music that did not originate from a video game.
- The Bulls come from the 1991 arcade game Sunset Riders by Konami, which was later ported to the Sega Genesis and SNES.
- The level Yellowstone Journey originally had a section where the player had to outrun buffalo similar to this level's main objective but it was removed after that level was revamped.
- The graphics used in this level come from Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Colonius levels.
