Neo Tokyo is the 14th level in World 7, Isle of Genesis and is based on both the first level of the same name from the Japanese Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game Pulseman and the Cybernet World from the Mega Man Battle Network series.
Layout[]
The level takes place in the futuristic city of Tokyo, Japan. In the original Pulsman game, the half-human, half C-Life boy named Pulseman visited this place to stop the Galaxy Gang from using a electro magnet wave from a TV studio that could control the innocent people.
The Cybernet is the digital main world of the Battle Network series as the main character, Lan Hikari and his NetNavi MegaMan.EXE, travelled through to stop an evil crime syndicate called WWW, also know as World Three, from taking over the network system.
The first area takes place in the street of the city as the player must battle a variety of deadly robots, such as Ratts, the robot cat head Baloon, a variety of Badniks, and a few Pokémon like Megnemites and Rotoms that appear out of the street lights and signs to attack the player. The city area itself is fairly straight-forward, although a few paths are split between the street level below and the rooftops above. At the end of the area, the player finds a high-tech monitor device that will transport them into Cyberspace.
The second half of the level takes place inside Cyberspace, which has undergone a Fusion with the Cybernet. It is currently infected with a variety of "virus" enemies, as well as a few other cybernetic enemies, such as Mettaurs, Canodumb Bunnies, Swordies, in addition to the Pokémon Porygon. This area is also fairly straight-forward, although with more twists and turns, and a handful of false walls that lead to secret areas. All items in this area, including coins and rupees, are contained within "Mystery Data" as some of them require special Unlocker sub-chips to open.
After exiting Cyberspace, the player will emerge back into the city for a brief time before getting the Sign Post and completing the level, gaining access to Planet Funkotron on the map.
