Mobius is the world where the Sonic characters live; however the world itself is known as Earth. "Earth" is constantly in threat from villains such as Dr. Eggman or outside threats such as the Black Arms. In Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, it is represented as Isle of Genesis.
History[]
Sonic's version of Earth starts with its creation and the creation of the seven Chaos Emeralds. However the people fought over the Chaos Emeralds, as punishment the emeralds were dispersed into space and the Master Emerald was created to negate the energy of the Chaos Emeralds.
Years later, the seven emeralds came into the possession of a alien race known as the Ancients who used them to live peacefully. However, they would be attacked by a eldritch abomination known only as The End who destroyed their planet but miraculously the survivors were guided to resettle back on Earth by the Master Emerald. Half of their number would sacrifice their lives to seal The End away to protect their new home, the other half would go on to settle the area that would become Angel Island and would mutate over time into the Chao. Unfortunately the peace would not last, a warmonger named Pachacamac became the leader of a neighboring tribe of echidnas, the Knuckles Clan, and tried to steal the Chaos Emeralds from the Chao and was destroyed by their guardian Chaos. The chief's daughter seeing the destruction Chaos would bring if not stopped sealed Chaos and herself away inside the Master Emerald, the resulting energy backlash creating Angel Island in the process.
50 years prior to the present day, Professor Gerald Robotnik starts experimenting with the Chaos Emeralds and other parts of the echidna cultures to make the ultimate life form aboard the Space Colony ARK in hopes of curing his granddaughter, Maria. Gerald eventually met the alien Black Doom and used his blood and technology to create Shadow, bringing the ability of Chaos Control to Earth. Gerald's experiments were eventually shut down by G.U.N.
Currently, Sonic saves Earth and other places from Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, while meeting friends like Amy and Tails and meeting rivals like Shadow and Metal Sonic, as well as saving other worlds from various threats like Eggman Nega, Erazor Djinn, the Dark Queen and in this fan game, The Fusionist.
Characteristics[]
Sonic's version of Earth is similar to our Earth, but has more islands and a few magical items. Many areas like Green Hill Zone appear throughout the series.

- Never Lake - Location where the mysterious Little Planet appears for one month every year.
- Angel Island - Location of the Master Emerald.
- United Federation - Sonic's version of the U.S.A.
- Emerald Town - Sonic and Tails live here.
- Metropolis - Dr. Eggman's headquarters on Westside Island.
- Space Colony ARK - Gerald Robotnik's former lab.
Misconceptions[]
The name Mobius is to believed to have come from a 1992 interview with Yuji Naka when talking about Mobius strips for Sonic 2. Until Sonic Adventure was released, American and UK versions of the game carried the error. It's worth noting that in the cartoon and Archie comic versions of Sonic, Mobius was revealed to be a future Earth.
