Jungle Shenanigans is the 5th level in Alternate Earth, located in a rainforest in South America.
Layout[]
The first main area takes place in a lake above the vines of the trees that the player can climb. Beware of the local animals here, such as the piranha fish that jump out of the lake, dragonflies that home towards the player, and frogs that wander around.
The second main area takes place in the rainforest nearest the swamp, where the player has to swim through the swamp that is effectively populated with piranha fish in the water and Klampons on land. This section also features a secret area, in which the natives will attack the players along with the local animals. At the end of this route is a key and a keyhole, leading to the secret exit and the bonus ship on the map.
The third main area is near the Rebel boating dock station, where the player gets spotted. The Rebel Soldiers prepare to attack with their firearms, along with some muscular buff soldiers. This area also introduces a taste of the Run and Gun gameplay that is later seen in some levels in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, in which the player will pick up various weapons while dealing with a number of enemies.
At the checkpoint room, the player is greeted by Marco Rossi, a member of the Peregrine Falcon Force, who tells the player that the Rebel Army is aware of their presence and is preparing their troopers and military vehicles to attack, meaning that they need to be prepared for a fight.
The last main area takes place at what looks like the construction site of a bridge that the Rebel Army was working on. This is the run-and-gun portion of the level, as the player will use many weapons, such as the heavy machine gun, rocket launcher, and more, to fight off the high numbers of soldiers and their military vehicles. The player can also gain weapons by freeing the POWs captured by the Rebel Army.
After fighting off the Rebel Army, the player is once again greeted by Marco Rossi, who is impressed with the player's abilities and has enlisted them as new allies of the Peregrine Falcon Force. Soon after, the flagpole awaits the player, who clears the level as their next trip is to Africa.
