Jailbird Showdown is a Cell level in World 1: The Mushroom Kingdom in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion. It is located in the Grass Land section of the map.

Completing this level will unlock Luigi as a playable character.

Layout[]

The player must first traverse a short level before entering a Mask Gate. Inside, they must fight Robirdo, a giant robotic version of Birdo. Defeating it rewards the player with a 3-Up Moon and several Rupees. It also unlocks Luigi as a playable character as he seen still trapped in the cage but now on top of the tree. Mario, Roll and Professor Hector soon rescue Luigi and get him out of the cage. Luigi thanks them for rescuing him and tells them about how he got captured to being with. Professor Hector also tells Luigi about the quest he, Mario and Roll are on and Luigi agrees to join them.

  • Professor Hector: Did you hear something? It sounds like someone is calling for help from high up in this tree!
  • Professor Hector: There must be a way up there through this door!

Trivia[]

  • Starting with the v0.91 update of MKF, the player needs to clear this level to unlock Luigi as a playable character as only Roll and Mario are playable up to that point of the game. After unlocking Luigi, the blocked paths on the map (indicated by a green "L" block) disappear and the player can opt to go to either Grassland Outpost or to the World 2 secret pipe (assuming the player has also found the secret exit of Goomba Mines).
  • A cutscene of Luigi being rescued is seen after beating this level for the first time.
  • Starting with the v0.93 update of MKF, the intro section has expanded with additional enemies.
