Inner Turmoil is the 16th level in the The Demon Realm.
Layout[]
This level is a wasteland full of an endless number of skulls for any unfortunate souls who fight against or betray Loki and his demon army across the mountains of Hellfire Peak.
In the first area, the player starts in a large area of the wasteland, where they will need to overcome an auto-scroll that constantly changes direction while dealing with various demon-like enemies, such as the Floating Skulls, Imps, Flaming Ghosts, Houndours, and Bone Towers. There are also skull platforms that go down when the player is standing on them but also go back up when the player is not on them, and POW Blocks in some areas to clear out the large numbers of demons before they overwhelm the player.
The second area is a vertical auto-scroll, where the player will need to climb up while simultaneously dodging Woody Pig alongside other various demon enemies until they make it to the top.
At the end, the player encounters the Ghost Fireman, who serves as the boss of the level. After the Ghost Fireman's defeat, Arthur and the other heroes go to their final destination in the Demon Realm, The Heart of Darkness, to confront the two demon lords Astaroth and Loki.

Trivia[]
- In earlier versions of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, this level had a brighter contrast, and the second section originally turned pitch black and had a castle tileset at the top of the area. A Unicorn was seen guarding the gate, which dropped a key when defeated to open it, similar to the original version of Antenora.
- Astaroth was also originally the end boss of the level, but was moved to Heart of Darkness in the v0.85 version as the mini-boss of that level. A flagpole was used temporarily to end the level before the v0.875 version, where the Ghost Fireman was added as the new boss.
- This level is inspired by the Stage 2 of the 1996 SNES game Incantation made by Titus Software.
- The main area's tileset also comes from the SNES game Incantation. The background is of an unknown source.
- The Skull sprite used on map is from the DOOM episode 3 Inferno map.
