The Goomba King, also known as Goomboss, is a large Goomba and is one of the many bosses found in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion. He is a boss in the level Grassland Outpost in World 1: The Mushroom Kingdom.
History[]
The Goomba King first appeared in the 2001 (2000 in Japan) Nintendo 64 game Paper Mario, where he is one of the first bosses Mario and his partners encounters. He was originally a regular Goomba but was made big after Bowser used the Star Rod to make him grow.
The Goomba King also appeared as one of the bosses in the 2004 Nintendo DS game Super Mario 64 DS, a remake of the 1996 Nintendo 64 game Super Mario 64. The Goomba King is encountered in a battle arena that is unlocked after eight Power Stars are collected. He is required to be defeated in order to win back Mario's key to unlock him as a playable character in the game as Yoshi is the only character the player starts as when the game begins.
The Goomba King also appears as one of the bosses in the Battle Mode in the 2005 Nintendo DS game Mario Kart DS.
Role in MKF:[]
He requires only up to 4-5 hits without too much effort. The Goomba King's main attack is running around and trying to hurt the player. Compared to later bosses found in MKF, he's not too much of a threat as he's one of the first bosses the player encounters.
Strategy:[]
To damage the Goomba King, the player simply needs to jump on his head. After he is jumped on, the Goomba King will get enrage and turn red, in addition to summoning at least three Goombas to assist him in battle. The player cannot damage the Goomba King while he is at this state but can bounce off him. When defeated, the Goomba King will turn red and vanish, thus drop a bunch of jewels and completing the level.
Trivia[]
- Introduced in the v0.8 version of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Goomba King replaces Boom-Boom as the new boss in the Grassland Outpost level.
