Forest of Silence is the 1st level in the Demon Realm. It is a Fusion level, combining the Demon's Crest/Gargoyle Quest series and the Castlevania series made Capcom and Konami respective.
Layout[]
The level takes place in a dark, misty forest, crawling with a fog lurking around the area, with huge trees that grow throughout the forest and have large branches sturdy enough for the monster to walk on and occasional vines hanging from them for any creatures to climb. Much of the forest floor is a patch of thick brambles, with thorns sharp enough to cause serious damage to any careless soul enough to fall into them. Near the center of the forest, the natural organic landscape has become noticeably fused with large chunks of gothic architecture, ancient stone walls and floors, and ornate staircases, which provide an almost direct contrast to the trees and plants of the surrounding forest.
As this is the introductory level to World 4, this level is fairly simple and contains mostly demon enemies, such as Skeletons, Dryads, Skull Caterkillers and Cyclops Bats, alongside some Goombas dressed as devils. It also introduces both Castlevania-style candles and Demon's Crest-style urns, two unique forms of item containers that will be encountered throughout this world. After getting past the two areas of this forest, the player gets to the flagpole to clear the level as they enter a graveyard sanitary next.
There is a secret exit in the second area of this level. If the player can find the key hidden in one of the urns and put it in the keyhole, they will unlock a Mushroom House on the map.
