Dr. Neo Cortex is a mad scientist and the main antagonist in the Crash Bandicoot series. He is also one of the bosses fought in World 2: Alternate Earth.
History[]
Dr. Cortex appeared as the final boss in the 1996 PlayStation game Crash Bandicoot. He since been a regular character and primary antagonist in many Crash Bandicoot games since.
Cortex is an egomaniacal mad scientist who seeks to achieve world domination with the use of the Evolvo-Ray, a machine capable of creating genetically enhanced soldiers from ordinary animals. Crash Bandicoot was one such subject but thwarted the scientist's plot; Cortex is subsequently determined to eliminate Crash as an obstacle to world domination.

In Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Dr. Cortex appears as the boss of the Crash Bandicoot-based level, N.Sanity Island. He attacks with exploding crates and ray gun projectiles. His force field protects him from player attacks but he can be harmed by explosions from the crates. Defeating Dr. Cortex allows the player to complete the level.
