Dauntless Quarry is the 1st level in The Megaverse and is based on the Guts Man stage from Mega Man 1. This level serves as an introduction to World 3, both in its short length and a message block that explains the basic premise of the world and its unique gameplay.

Layout[]

The main setting of the level takes place in a canyon under construction, full of metal tower and mines under the operation of the Robot Master Guts Man and his workers.

The first two area takes place high above ground while the player will ride on the conveying belts that sometimes drop when they are off the rails, meaning that the player have to pay attention too or else they will fall off, sometimes to a bottomless pit or dangerous spike traps. In addition, the Mets, Picket Men and other robot enemies that populate the area will attack the player along the way.

The second area takes place in the low grounds, where Piranha Plants are taking a liking of the construction pipes, Also, the end of the area features a mini-boss fight with Big Eye, who is guarding a key that is required to unlock the next area.

The last area of the level features a boss fight against Guts Man in the mines. After Guts Man's defeat, the player exits the mines caves and clears the level.

Trivia[]

The original name of this level was Guts Man Quarry and was mostly a remake of Guts Man's stage in the original Mega Man prior to its redesign.
The Piranha Plants and their Jumping variants were originally absent in this level.
The Goombas are reskinned in this level (and in most levels of World 3 they appear in) to resemble Mets (or Metools), which seems appropriate enough as the Goombas are the low-level mooks of Bowser's Koopa Troop and the Mets are the low-level minions of Dr. Wily's army.
