Crystal Mountain is the 5h level in the Isle of Genesis and is based on the Crystal World levels of the 1993 Sega Genesis game Tinhead made by Microprose U.K. and published by Ballistic and Spectrum HoloByte.
Layout[]
This level takes place on Crystal Mountain, which is a planet full of Living Crystals above the stormy clouds. In the original game, Tinhead, a robotic, metallic Guardian of the Edge of the Universe, visited this planet on his quest to save the kidnapped stars from an evil intergalactic goblin named Grim Squidge.
The level layout is huge as it has a lower and higher route to take as it plays similar to the Sonic levels rather than the straightforward path design found in Tinhead as the players will travel and explore the mountains region going through clear pipes like a warp pipe and use springs to reach higher grounds, avoiding the Acid Drip coming out of some pipe and spikes while collecting crystal balls, red coins, rupees, breaking some monitors for some power ups, and freeing the stars trapped in the glass sphere. Along the way, the player will fight through a variety of enemies, such as the members of the Grim Squidge army like Gunky, Spike Wheels, Orbus and Krystal. Other enemies encountered include the frog-like Badniks, known as Ribots, that swing a metal ball in a circle, and Tails' old rivals, the Bearanger Henchmen, that fire green blobs from their shotgun.
At the end, the player gets to the Sign Post and clears the level. From there, the player views the ocean side of the mountains as they see some dolphins jump out of the water.
