The Okarda'phaa-pattern Rifle, also known as the Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle or simply the plasma rifle, is a weapon that originated from the Halo series.
Background[]
Plasma rifles have been used by the Sangheili warrior class for millenium, with the earliest versions predating the formation of the Covenant. During the Human-Covenant War, the Okarda'phaa-pattern was the primary weapon of the Covenant officer corps until the Great Schism, having changed very little since its introduction over five hundred years ago.
Gameplay[]
The Plasma Rifle has an ammo capacity of 20 shots, fires three plasma projectiles with every shot, and is capable of fully automatic fire. It is especially effective against larger enemies at close range, since all three projectiles can hit the same target. This makes it an effective counter to Covenant Elites and Hunters, who are immune to stomping. In addition, Elites drop a plasma rifle upon death, so ammo is rarely an issue when fighting them.
