City Escape is the 15th level in World 7: Isle of Genesis and is based on the first level from Sonic Adventure 2 for the Sega Dreamcast.
Layout[]
City Escape takes place in one of Mobius' major cities, Central City. In the original game, Sonic escapes to this city after he was previously captured by the forces of the military organization G.U.N. (or Guardian Units of Nations for short) as he was falsely accused of stealing the Chaos Emeralds, a crime actually committed by another hedgehog later revealed as Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Life Form who was working for Dr Robotnik at that time to help him operate the Space Colony ARK as part of his world dominating plan.
Like the rest of the world, it too has been taken over by Dr. Robotnik. The G.U.N. forces that once protected the city have been defeated and ran out of town, resulting in the citizens becoming oppressed by Robotnik's army of Badniks. Many of the city's colorful billboards and posters have been replaced by dark images commanding the populace to "OBEY". In addition, the streets are patrolled by the gargantuan E.G.G. Truck that can quickly crush all potential rebellions by deploying a large platoon of Eggrobo troops.
A short distance into the city, The Coalition encounters the E.G.G. Truck on patrol, which happens to be carrying Robotnik's own trio of mechanical Sonic doppelgangers; Metal Sonic, Silver Sonic, and Mecha Sonic. In anticipation of the Coalition's arrival, Metal Sonic taunts the player as the truck deploys a vast number of Egg Robos before the trio fly off into separate directions.
The city alternates between the city streets, most of which travel downhill, and the main parkway. The street sections are rather straight-forward, but the parkway sections provide multiple paths for the player to take. There are various hazards installed in the city, such as retractable fireball machines, swinging platforms attached to chains and arrays of metal columns with hazard stripes that quickly bob up and down past each other. The player will have to carefully make their way through the city, fighting off Eggrobos and other assorted Badniks, until they eventually reach the freeway.
Unfortunately for the player, a long stretch of city streets is the perfect place to get run over; particularly by the deadly E.G.G. Truck, which starts relentlessly chasing them down. The truck itself is not the only threat the player will have to deal with as Sonic's mechanical nemesis, Metal Sonic, is there as well to assist the truck with the player's destruction. The player will have to defeat this mechanized tag-team in order to successfully save the city. After the bosses are defeated, the Eggrobo escapes for the truck explosion and carrying the damaged Metal Sonic on the Egg Mobile. With the city now saved and the level being completed, the player heads off to the Eggman Empire section on the map as they return to Little Planet once again.

Trivia[]
- This level features posters of various Sega video game franchises, such as Nights, as well as cameos from other Sega characters like Alex Kidd and and the lowrider taxi from Crazy Taxi. There are also posters of Fusion Fangaming, which created Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, and Lars Luron, who designed the level.
- This is the only Sonic level to be based on a 3D game in the series instead of the 2D ones seen in most Sonic levels in MKF.
- The music is the instrumental version of City Escape to avoid copyright from Sega and Crush 40, the band that made this song.
- The E.G.G Truck is based on the G.U.N Truck that chases Sonic at the end of the original level.
- The E.G.G Truck's sprite is an edited version of a custom sprite made by NICKtendoDS.
- Some of the E.G.G Truck's attack, such as the saw blade and rockets, are inspired by the G.U.N Truck in the Modern Act of City Escape from Sonic Generations.
- Originally, the E.G.G. Truck was one of the few bosses that did not have a health bar. It was later added, starting in the v0.85 version of MKF.
