Chrono Chaos

Chrono Chaos is the 3rd secret level in Adventurer's Domain and is based on the Chrono Trigger series.

Layout[]

This level offers a unique mechanic: portals that move the player through time.

The following timelines appear in the level:

  • Present Time - The place where the player starts and ends the level.
  • Middle Ages - This resembles the present time, but at night and with a different set of enemies.
  • Dark Ages - The snow zone section of the level, where the protagonists of the Chrono Trigger series also appear as NPCs.
  • Prehistoric Ages - A section containing lava and dinosaur-like enemies.
  • Future - An area that takes place in an abandoned factory, containing blocks with messages and various robot-like enemies.

Trivia[]

  • The background for the Prehistory time period is a recolor from the Freedom Planet 2 demo. The cityscape in the Future section comes from the 1989 arcade game Bay Route.
  • When talking to Chrono, his dialogue differs based on what character the player has chosen.
  • Mudbeasts were seen in this level but were removed in the v0.9 update of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion and replaced with other enemies.
  • The time travel portals mechanic in this level could likely be a revamped take on the once-scrapped "Future and past" mechanic from Collision Chaos, a scrapped level which later became Collision Utopia Zone.
  • The following changes were made in the v0.91 update of MKF:
    • The backgrounds and tilesets were updated with new visuals.
    • Professor Hector is seen right before the player enters the first portal. He is seen again at the end of the level.
    • Sonia, Dodongo, Pokey the Cat and Poppy Bros. Jr. were added to the level.
