Bydo Corridor is the 4th level in Edge of Beyond. It is based after the first two levels of the original R-Type, remade into a platformer level.
Layout[]
The level starts out in the Bydo Caves. It is an auto-scrolling area where the player must evade Outslays and other creatures to reach the end, while part of the section is underwater to allow the characters to traverse it while still being true to the original stage design.
After clearing the Bydo Caves, the player will encounter Gomander, who serves as the level's end boss. During the first phase of the boss fight, the player must stomp at Gomander's weak spot, which is the blue gem-like orb that opens up briefly at the top. If it takes damage, the player quickly leaps back to the left, and the orb shuts down immediately. During the second phase of the fight, the player dives into Gomander's innards to destroy the Bydo from the inside. Once successful, the level is cleared for the player.

Trivia[]
- The boss theme against Gomander in the first phase is the first half of the Indian Battle theme, which is a special track from the first R-Type game. This theme is also used for the level itself, at the quarter mark at 2:53-3:52, which loops for the level indefinitely. The boss music for the second phase comes from Gradius V, but was changed a few times throughout the level's history.
- Prior to the v0.875 update of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, this level was known as Bydo Station. The following things would be changed in v0.875:
- The music for the first part of the level was the medley arrangement from the game itself, while the other half of the Indian Battle theme was used for the second half of the level. The first track was removed, while the second track was kept for the revamped version of the level.
- The first section was set in outer space, with a message block explaining how to get there. The next section consisted of a P-Switch run while avoiding enemies along the way. The coins at the beginning of the section also spelled out "IREM," the company that made the R-Type games. This section was removed as the level was revamped.
- The next section took place in the Space Station, which focused on finding the keys to unlock the gates to progress further into the area. A handful of enemies made an appearance there, as well as the mid-boss Dobkeratops, which dropped a key to progress into the Bydo Caves, but were located right close to the hole, so the player needed to make a jump to make sure not to lose the key or the player's life. This section was later removed and placed into a new level in Edge of Beyond, Techno Dungeon, which was a retiled version of the original Space Station section.
- The section containing a P-Switch run in the original version of this level would later be used as the basis of the Black Switch Palace in the v0.88 update.
