The Battle Level is a map icon where various wandering enemies, most notably the Hammer Bros, are seen patrolling the world map. This concept originated from Super Mario Bros 3 and if the player runs into a Hammer Bros-like icon on the map, they cannot turn back and are forced to fight the Hammer Bros and other enemies. Defeating all enemies on screen will summon a treasure chest, which will either contain a 1-up Mushroom or 3-up Moon, thus clearing the area. Usually, the enemy that is patrolling the map is one of the enemies fought in the battle area.

In Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Hammer Bros patrol the World Map in World 1: The Mushroom Kingdom but in other worlds, their roles are given to other foes from the Rebel Army in the Metal Slug games to the Doc Robots from the Mega Man series. The level Hammer Bro Hideout is based on the SMB3 Hammer Bros battles.

Starting with the v0.785 update, additional enemies are now seen patrolling the map in certain worlds. For example, in World 1, other Mario-based enemies, such as Goombas and Koopa Troopas, are seen patrolling areas in the map aside from Hammer Bros. In some map areas, the player will be facing a platform challenge instead of fighting enemies, such as hopping from platform to platform and reaching the top of the stage or swimming past a maze of spiked obstacles to reach the end.

World 1[]

Originally, only Hammer Bros, Boomerang Bros, Fire Bros and Sledge Bros were found patrolling the map (aside from the Rebel Soldier that blocked the path between the player and the warp zone pipe to World 2 and a Sniper Joe for World 3 but were later removed), but as of the v0.8 update, other Mario enemies are seen patrolling the map.

World 2[]

Rebel Soldiers and other members of the Rebel Army were originally the only enemies on World 2's map but have been joined by other enemies found mainly in World 2.

World 3[]

Originally, only Sniper Joes and Doc Robots were seen patrolling the map but have since been joined by other enemies from the Mega Man universe.

World 4[]

Originally only Imps and Red Arremers patrolled the map.

World 5[]

World 6[]

In addition to enemies that patrol the maps in MKF, there are Battle Levels that can occur randomly while the Player is moving across the Map. This is similar to how random battles in the classic-era Final Fantasy games start. It also takes inspiration from Zelda 2.

World 7[]

Aside from the battle levels listed below, Gumball Machines are also present on this world's map.

World 8[]

World 9[]

Originally, the player had to fight Covenant forces from Halo, such as the Covenant Grunts, Covenant Elites, and Covenant Hunters, and several Metroid enemies, such as Zoomers, Zeelas, Skrees, and Zebesians.

Trivia[]

  • The music used during the Battle Levels is the Fighting Polygon Team theme from the 1999 Nintendo 64 game Super Smash Bros. Previously, they used a remix of the Hammer Bros theme from Super Mario Bros 3.
  • Starting with the v0.85 update, the Battle Level music depends on what world the player is in. For example, the Super Smash Bros. (N64) - Fighting Polygons Fight theme is used in World 8 battle levels. Previously, that theme was used in each world's battle levels.
  • Prior to its removal from the game, the Minus World was the only world not to feature a Battle Level. Prior to the v0.8 update, Gehenna had no Battle Levels.
  • If an enemy falls off a cliff into a bottomless pit or is out of the screen without actually being defeated by the player, it does count as an enemy being defeated.
  • Some Battle Levels, like Covenant Thy Veggies, were previously regular levels. On the other hand, some former Battle Levels, like Overflown Relics, were upgraded to regular levels.
