The Anti-Coalition (also known as AC) was an alliance of heroes in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion with the same goals as the Mushroom Kingdom Coalition. However, they differ from the MK Coalition in several aspects. They can be considered to be in direct competition to the MK Coalition, and their members can be considered anti-heroes.

Like the members of the Mushroom Kingdom Coalition, the members of the Anti-Coalition have their worlds under siege by Legion. However, for a reason not yet revealed, their morals and team mindset is in direct clashing of the MK Coalition's code of honor. Oftentimes, members of the Anti-Coalition will create a hindrance to the MK Coalition (for example, setting traps or getting captured, resulting in a rescue mission for the MK Coalition). There are times in which the Anti-Coalition will show up to steal credit or victories from the MK Coalition.

On the other side of the token, there are instances in which both coalitions will work together, showing that the Anti-Coalition is not evil in any sense; their morals seem to be corrupted somewhat by the events of the game.

The concept of an anti-coalition has long been scrapped alongside another abandoned concept a group of characters working together for a common goal, the Villian Alliance.

The Anti-Coalition roster[]

The roster was under discussion, but there had been several characters already decided for the roster, which would eventually be abandoned. These characters would be counterparts to the members of the MK Coalition:

  • Alucard (Snake's counterpart): As Snake was the one who helped form the MK Coalition, Alucard forms the Anti-Coalition. Unlike Snake, Alucard could not deal with the return of Legion. Therefore he became sullen and angst-ridden, gathering downtrodden characters from different dimensions who are desperately seeking guidance and leadership.
  • Croco (Mario's counterpart): From Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, this purple hat-wearing crocodile is best known for being a nuisance to Mario's party. He often steals items from party members (including stealing Mallow's wallet at the beginning of the game). He even has a variety of weapons in his sack of goods. Overall, he is shown not to be a bad guy as he does help Mario's party out towards the end of the game.
  • Waluigi (Luigi's counterpart): Originally introduced so that Wario would have a partner in the Mario sports games, Waluigi is a direct polar opposite of Luigi. He has been shown to be very overconfident and temperamental. He can be considered the Anti-Coalition's most rogue member.
    • Oddly, Waluigi is also a playable member of the MK Coalition, but since he is only a clone character of Wario, this will probably have no relevance to the game's plot.
  • Captain Syrup (Wario's counterpart): Syrup has been Wario's rival since the first Wario Land game. She is a pirate, and has been Wario's rival since he raided her pirate base to earn money for his castle. She has worked with him in the past, however, as her recent appearance in Wario Land: Shake It! shows, but only when she stands to make a profit from it.
  • Knuckles the Echidna (Sonic's counterpart): Guardian of the Master Emerald and last echidna on the planet, Knuckles is known to be a maverick in his original appearances in the Sonic games, primarily due to his duty as a guardian and being tricked by Dr. Eggman. He has fought Sonic numerous amounts of times, but is usually Sonic's friend and helps him out when fighting Eggman.
  • Fang the Sniper (Tails' counterpart): A thieving treasure hunter, Fang clashed with Sonic and Tails in Sonic Triple Trouble for the Game Gear, in which he tried to steal the Chaos Emeralds. He can be cunning at times, but is also overconfident, wielding vehicles he can't fully control or falling for his own traps.
  • Richter Belmont (Arthur's counterpart): Descendant of Simon Belmont, Richter is hero of both Castlevania: Dracula X games and also a major character in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Richter had to battle legions of Dracula's monsters to save his love interest Annette. In Symphony of the Night, Richter mysteriously disappears. He was cursed and placed under the control of Shaft, a dark priest and servant of Dracula.
  • King Dedede (Kirby's counterpart): The self proclaimed King of Dreamland, Kirby has clashed with him several times over the mistreatment of his "subjects". Since then Dedede has turned over a new leaf, commonly teaming up with Kirby, usually against larger threats, such as the entity Dark Matter. They've raced over food before as well.
  • Black Mage (Link's counterpart): The Black Mage hails from the first Final Fantasy game. He's an enigmatic mage that can use Black Magic to inflict harm upon his enemies.
  • Captain Falcon (Samus' counterpart): Famed bounty hunter and pilot of the F-Zero Grand Prix. He is the main character of all F-Zero games with the exception of Maximum Velocity, in which he does not appear (Kent Akechi, who claims to be his son, does make an appearance, however).
  • Bass (Roll's counterpart): The self-proclaimed strongest robot, he is the rival of Mega Man introduced in Mega Man 7. He was created by Dr. Wily after he accidentally created a new energy called "Bassnium". His desire to prove himself as the strongest robot has led him to fight even against Dr. Wily at times.

Unlockable and clone characters would not have Anti-Coalition counterparts had the Anti-Coalition format stuck around.

Trivia[]

  • Out of all the planned members of this scrapped group, only Alucard, Waluigi, Bass, Richter, Knuckles, and King Dedede currently have roles in MKF. Alucard is an NPC in a secret room in Dracula's Castle, Waluigi is one of the playable characters, Bass is a boss in the level Robot Museum and as a helpful NPC in Turbo Turnpike, a mind controlled Richter is a boss in the level Sanctum of Torment, Knuckles is a shopkeeper in World 7, and King Dedede is a boss in the level Greens Panic.
