Antenora is the 9th level in the Demon Realm and is based on the Stage 5 Ice Forest/Ice Walls from Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the SNES.
Completing this level will unlock Firebrand as a playable character.
Layout[]
Antenora is a frozen wasteland filled with many mountains, steep bottomless chasms, and the bone remains of gargantuan creatures that used to live before being extinct under a night full of stars. In the original game, Sir Arthur traveled to this snowy wasteland to first battle Bēruaroken, a demon made of ice and bones, before making it to the castle to battle the demon loads Astaroth and Nebiroth to rescue Princess Prin Prin once again.
There are a number of enemies from the Ghosts 'N Goblins series, such as Skeleton Murderers, Flying Knights, Big Men and Red Arremers, alongside other enemies that populate the area, such as the Flame Witches, Cyclops Bats, Cybers, Tabans, and Tap-Taps. There are upper and lower routes that can be taken through the level, with lots of hidden treasures and money bags to be found.
In the last area, the player will have to fight two goblins called Unicorns in order to get the keys to open the gates. Unicorns attack by spitting fireballs and charging at the player with their arms if they get too close to them. There will be a fire rod in case the player doesn't have a power-up or loses one, as Unicorns cannot be stomped on. After defeating the two Unicorns and getting the key, the player reaches the flagpole to clear the level as they see a huge dead monster at the bottom with a mysterious figure going inside next.
If the player clears this level for the first time, a cutscene plays where Firebrand and Vire are surrounded by an endless horde of monsters. Vire pleads with Firebrand to stop fighting, but Firebrand refuses. Ultimately, Firebrand begins to run low on health, and Vire, seeking an opportunity to join Loki's army, betrays Firebrand by knocking him off the cliff. Later on, the Mushroom Kingdom Coalition approaches a seemingly unconscious Firebrand lying in some snow. However, Firebrand wakes up, and Arthur prepares to fight him, but Professor Hector tells him to stand down as Firebrand is not a threat. After a lengthy conversation, Firebrand, despite his status as a lone-wolf fighter, is convinced to join the Coalition in fighting not only Loki but also The Fusionist.

Trivia[]
- Antenora is named after the ninth level of hell in Dante's Inferno, which was said to be a realm completely frozen in ice.
- The first two rooms of the level are actually the original second and third rooms of Scandinavian Campaign, albeit heavily retooled and given new tiles, backgrounds, and enemies.
- The music heard in this level is the Ice Theme from Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.
- There is a P-Switch that will spill out Obreck, who is the original designer of this level before it was revamped.
- All of the enemies that didn't originate from the Ghosts n Goblins series or the game Black Tiger were originally absent in this level.
- In the v0.91 update of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Baleog the Fierce, one of the three protagonists in the 1993 game The Lost Vikings, can be seen trapped in ice in one section of the level.
- In the v0.92 update of MKF, a cutscene of Firebrand joining the Mushroom Kingdom Coalition is added after clearing the level. Due to MKF's non-linear gameplay, only Mario, Luigi, Roll, and Arthur are present alongside Professor Hector.
