Anomalous City is the 5th level in Gehenna.
Layout[]
The level is located in a city that mysteriously disappeared from Alternate Earth and appeared in Gehenna. Due to a distortion in time, the city is no longer inhabited by people but by strange monsters who will not hesitate to kill the player if they are bothered.
There are three distinct major areas:
Salt Swamp Area: The player begins in a swamp-like area and must swim in the water while avoiding the enemies that inhabit the area. They must also be careful not to touch the Electric Seaweed that is spread throughout the area.
Submerged City: Once the player crosses the above-water part of the swamp, they will enter the depths of the sea in a sunken city. This area of the city features a high number of marine creatures, such as skullfish, anemones and tentaculats. There is a lot of swimming necessary to reach the end of this section and onto the city.
Forsaken City: The player will have to cross the city, avoiding the many creatures of totally unknown origin, such as reptilian aliens. This area takes place above the water, and unlike the first two areas of the level, it requires no swimming. It is mainly climbing up and down rotting scaffolding and the skeletons of enormous high-rise buildings and traversing across its desolated streets. This area contains lots of land-based enemies that will try to hinder the player's progress.
At the end, the player can finally grab the Flagpole and finish the level.

Trivia[]
- This level was previously known as both Forsaken City and Deluged City.
- Moon Tribes from Soul Blazer & Illusion of Gaia were originally found in this level but were removed after the level was revamped and renamed Deluged City.
- In the v0.88 update: the following changes were made:
- The player now swims to the city instead of entering the city before going to the submerged part of the city
- The following enemies were removed from the level: Wolf and Vampire Bat.
- Several enemies previously absent in the level were added in.
- Lobster Men were readded to the level after being previously removed.
